The Idea
Allstate’s UX workforce is made up of specialists and generalists. Our specialist roles include:
- UX Architects
- Visual Designers
- Copywriters & Content Strategists
- UX Research
- Front End Engineers
Our Generalist role is called Product Designer – that is what I do at Allstate.
Our specialist community frequently expressed interest in practicing interdisciplinary skills they already posessed and learning new skills across other UX specialist disciplines.
The primary goal of the Hackathon was to offer an opportunity for all of our UX practitioners to switch roles for a day- to try on some new skills or a new mantle.
As an added benefit, we were able to help a local community organization.
